Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Why did my USB mouse / keyboard stop working?

A:  Sometimes a USB mouse may stop working with no evidence of damage. Usually the device actually was damaged it's probably some quirkiness of the USB driver and Windows. Here is some things to try first before getting a new one or requesting and a RMA (please read all steps.)

  1. Test the mouse on another computer to determine whether the mouse is actually faulty.
  2. If the mouse works on another computer, or you dont have access to another computer try this. Shut the computer down, boot it back up and wait for the Windows to fully load to the desktop then try unplugging and reconnecting the mouse.
  3. If step# 2 works then go to device manager, expand the USB Controllers branch, double click on the Root Hub entry, select the Power Management tab & clear the 'Allow computer to turn off this device to save power' checkbox. If you have more than one Root Hub entry, then repeat this for all of them.

Q:  Why will my kids' computer not turn on?

  1. Are you pushing the power button and not the reset switch? Usually desktop computers will come with both a power and reset switch. The power button is usually larger than the reset button and located next to it, but that varies between case designs.
  2. Check to make sure computer is plugged in.
  3. If plugged into a power strip, check to make sure the power cord is plugged into the power strip and that the power strip is plugged into the power wall socket. If the power strip has a power switch itself make sure that is turned on. Also check if the power strip has fuse switch and that it has not been flipped or needs to be reset. If this still doesnt work try bypassing the power strip all together by plugging the unit directly into the wall socket, this will help determine if the fault is maybe with the power strip.
  4. Make sure you are looking at the correct chord, the back of computers cabling can be a mess, grab the cable with your hand and physically follow it to the power source.
  5. Most desktop computers will have a power button on the back of their case near where the power cord connects. This button will have two states either "0" or "1", make sure it is in the "1" position.
  6. Check the monitor. Is it turned on? Usually there is a green light near the on/off button that indicates that the monitor is turned on.
  7. Is the monitor plugged in? As with the power cord to the PC check to make sure its power cord is connected properly.
  8. Is the monitor plugged into the computer? Check the cord from the back of the monitor to the PC. Make sure the connections to both are secure and not loose. Also make sure you have the cables connected to the correct ports. Sometimes computers and monitors will have multiple different locations to plug the lines into that connect them.

Q:  What type of brand are your kid computers?

Our computers are our own brand. That is we are OEM system builders just like Dell, Gateway and every other computer builder except IBM and Apple. What that means is that we don't make any of the parts (that is the OEM original equipment manufacturer) makes the parts and we assemble them as a final computer. Nearly all computer manufacturers operate this way.

Warranty and Technical support is covered through us, this is part of the services offered when you purchase a computer.
